Traits & Habits

Like her mother, when Anais is lost in thought she often toys with a small flame in her hand, a mixture of red and gold aether.
Although her emotions run deep and powerful, Anais rarely lets it be known what she is feeling. Her face is especially impassive and usually gives the impression of being irritated even when she isn't.
Anais is rarely without a blade and has several stashed on her person at all times. Although for those rare occasions when she cannot carry one, her claws are sufficient.

Likes

Due in part to her father and his ward, Anais has a keen understanding of technology and how it works. She prides herself on being able to fix nearly anything, though she will grudgingly admit her teachers are more skilled than she.
Perhaps a nervous habit at this point, Anais took up smoking as a teenager and never quite put it down. It doesn't harm her, but she finds the scent and the act comforting.
Since her arrival in Eorzea, Anais found herself mesmerized by the sky. She'll spend entire nights just staring at the stars. She is likewise enamored with the sun and likes to lay about in broad sunlight whenever she gets the chance to relax.

Dislikes

Anais will not tolerate abuse of her brother. She is quick to come to his defense, even if he may not need her assistance.
Overly bubbly or excitable personalities overstimulate Anais and she tires of said company quickly.

History

Anais was born in Solution 9 alongside her brother, Dharrius, twins quite literally created by their mother, Vyr'lara Raventys. More akin to an entelechy than a voidsent, their mother has full control of her body, including conception of children, and thus the pair were conceived intentionally. Their father, Renton Hartman, is a powerful voidsent with the worrisome inability to properly metabolize the aether he consumes. Fortunately, Anais at least does no suffer from that inability, and growing up she found herself more and more drawn to the violence that her kind are known for.As a child Anais was raised in similar fashion to others, though given her parents' nature her studies included more than just reading and writing. She learned to harness her abilities, to shapeshift as her parents do-- though she favors the form of her father, a great black wolf-- and to devour the aetherial and emotional essence of the mortals around her. Under the tutelage of her father and his ward, Sapphire Hartman, Anais learned how to work with technology from both Eorzea and Solution 9.Since coming to Eorzea, Anais has mostly kept a low profile. Most people don't know her or know she's the daughter of Vyr and she prefers to keep it that way, though lately she's taken up residence in her mother's home in Limsa Lominsa. Alongside her brother Anais has taken control of her mother's network and though she leaves most of the work to others, she's taken an interest in running the lounge her mother was building.

Long-term relationships are based off chemistry between characters. Enemy and / or rival arcs are encouraged as well.
Anais is decent at reading those around her & picking up on emotions. Let me know if there's something you want her to pick up specifically or if this trait is somehow blocked.
Romantic relationships are possible, but bear in mind that Anais is polyamorous. She will not be settling down with one relationship, ever. Her very nature makes it difficult to rely on only one person for her needs to be met, so multiple physical entanglements & relationships are inevitable. That being said, the messiness and jealousy that can stem from these types of situations can make for good scenarios!
Anais' relationship status is also not a reflection of my own OOC and I am not seeking to use RP as a means to find new IRL partners.

CHANCE ENCOUNTER - Anais is known to frequent social hubs, even if she does not openly participate in social activities.
COMMUNITY TIES - Due to her relation to the Raventys family, Anais can sometimes be found in Ishgard where their club is located. Likewise, she has taken up residence in her mother's house in Limsa.
AETHER-LUST - As Anais prefers to feed off aether from others, she's known to take on thralls that are willing to feed her in exchange for protection, money, shelter, or as part of a sexual exchange. Those that earn her trust may also earn her mark, lending a deeper and more emotional connection that can be sensed & utilized over great distances.

RENTON HARTMAN | Father

Renton has always been the more actively violent of Anais' parents, and Anais has learned much of her bloodthirsty skills from him. Anais also takes after her father, favoring canine aspects over her mother's feline.

ASCHERON RAVENTYS | Grandfather

While not technically a grandfather in the traditional sense, Anais met Ash in her twenties and has since taken to teasing him, not quite calling him gramps, but heavily implying it.

Lara Lemaire | Aunt

Previously Lara Flynn, now known as Lady Lemaire, head of House Lemaire in Ishgard. Anais has only recently met her aunt.

In contrast to her father, Vyr is a rather stoic mother, with a no-nonsense attitude that was both practical and honest. Ironically, Anais learned her deception from her mother.
